Biography:
Richard was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia in 1967. He and his sister, Pamela, are first generation college graduates. After graduating from Morehouse College with a degree in Biology/Pre-Med, Richard attended medical school for three years at Meharry Medical College, where he met his wife TriCia Guidry.
Richard then attended law school at Tulane University, where he thrived in trial advocacy. Richard made Moot court after his first year and won the McGlinchey Stafford Lang Junior Trial Competition. Upon completion of law school in 1997, he served as a law clerk to the judges of the Fourteenth Judicial District court in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Since practicing with The Cox Law Firm, he has handled maritime, personal injury and workers' compensation cases. Richard's largest settlement to date is a $1.2 million settlement for a client who suffered a herniated disc caused by an 18-wheeler collision.
Since graduating and finishing her residency, Dr. Guidry established an OB/GYN practice in Lake Charles. Richard and TriCia have three children.
Richard is the President of the Board of Directors for the Southwest Louisiana Center for Health Services, a member of the Civic Advisory Council for LifeShare Blood Center, a Fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation.
