The Cox Law Firm Calcasieu Student Scholarship

The Cox Law Firm of Lake Charles was founded in 1969 by brothers James and Will Cox. The Cox Law Firm has been a proud part of the community it serves for over 50 years. Every single member of the Firm lives, works, and raises their families in Calcasieu Parish. We believe that the students in Calcasieu Parish have a bright future and we are proud to support those who have big dreams. The Cox Law Firm is excited to offer a $1,000 scholarship to a Senior student from each Calcasieu Parish high school who will be attending any Louisiana post-secondary school (college, vocational school, junior college, etc.).

Applicants must submit the following materials

1. Resume outlining academic achievements, extracurricular activities, leadership roles, community service, and work experience (if applicable).

2. Short Essay (300–500 words) responding to the prompt below.

Essay Prompt

Describe a time when you stood up for someone, spoke out about something unfair, or took action to help others. What motivated you to act, and what did the experience teach you about responsibility and leadership?

Important

Essays must be the applicant’s original work. The use of artificial intelligence tools (including ChatGPT or similar programs) to generate or write the essay is not permitted.

Finalists will be selected based on their application materials and will participate in a 10–15 minute Zoom or in-person interview before final scholarship recipients are chosen.

Scholarship Applications are due April 20th.
